Twitter handle launched to assist commuters

To make its ambitious odd-even scheme a success, the Delhi Government has launched a Twitter handle called @TransportDelhi to provide real-time information about the public transport to commuters during the days when the scheme will be effective.

Starting January 1, a person can just tweet using the hashtag #PollutionFreeDelhi along with his origin point and the destination and he would immediately get a response with the bus route, Metro route, bus and Metro timings and the shortest possible route to that destination, said Gopal Rai while announcing the initiative.

“Keeping in mind the safety of women, privacy options have also been considered to keep one’s location safe. “If you do not want to share your location, instead of publically tweeting your origin point and destination, you can also send a private message to @TransportDelhi Twitter handle and get the information in the private message as well,” added Raheel Khursheed, head of news, politics and Government at Twitter India.

The Government also announced that a total of 114 Indraprastha Gas limited stations across Delhi and NCR will start pasting hologram stickers on CNG vehicles from Tuesday.
