lashker-e-Tayyeba (leT) explosives expert Syed Abdul Karim Tunda was on Friday admitted to the Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU) of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for treatment. A senior doctor of the hospital said Tunda has received a pacemaker.
On Thursday night around 11.30 pm, Tunda was taken to Safdarjung Hospital after he complained of chest pain. On Friday morning, he was shifted to AIIMS for security reasons. Sources said that he was admitted to the cardiothoracic department. “His blood pressure is fluctuating. In the evening a temporary pacemaker was implanted since irregular heartbeat was observed. A team of doctors from both cardiology and cardiothoracic departments are monitoring his health condition,” said a doctor. Sources said that for now, Tunda is on a liquid diet.
“He will be kept under observation. Based on his ECG reports, we will decide on further course of treatment,” the doctor added.
