Refuting the claims made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Shazia Ilmi, Transparency International India (TII) on Monday said that the organisation has not conducted any studies on the reduction in the levels of corruption. “We have not undertaken any study on corruption in Delhi,” the independent organisation said. The AAP had cited a survey report of Transparency International India to conclude that corruption had reduced significantly under its 49-day rule in Delhi.
In his address to the CII, the former Delhi Chief Minister claimed that as per independent studies corruption has come down in the city by 20 to 30 per cent in the national Capital “We have done in 49 days what others couldn’t do in years. Medicines are now available at Government hospitals. Corruption came down by 20 to 30 per cent. And they (other two parties) say that we do not know anything about governance,” he said.
On the other hand, regarding cleaning up of politics, Kejriwal added that while the Congress got reported contributions of `2,300 crore, the BJP figures stand at `800 crore. “More than 90 per cent of the contributions for them are below `20,000, which is unaccounted. It is being introduced as benami black money.” he said.
