Traffic police stations to come soon on SPR, Dwarka E-way

Published on:

Gurugram will soon get two new traffic police stations on Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) and the Dwarka Expressway also known as Northern Peripheral Road (NPR). A proposal has been sent to the State Government for approval.

Apart from this, district police has also decided to set up one police station in Gurugram section on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway on the 52-km operational part between Manesar and Palwal.

Considering the traffic situation on the city roads the strength of the Gurugram traffic police will be increased by 550 personnel. The district has around 350 traffic cops at present.

As of now, the Gurugram police have two traffic police stations which are located near Hero Honda Chowk on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway and another in Manesar.

"The proposal for the two new traffic police stations has been sent to the state government and hope it will get the approval soon. Gurugram is a fast growing city so we need more traffic policemen and police station to handle the traffic volume on the roads," Commissioner of Gurugram Police, Sandeep Khirwar, said.

According to Khirwar, the current traffic police stations on the National Highway and Manesar are not even helping the commuters but also during the peak hours the traffic policemen handle the traffic management in a better way.

Meanwhile, the distance of the Southern Peripheral Road is around 18.4 kilometres and Dwarka Expressway around 8 Kilometres and these both the stretches connect with Delhi-Gurugram Expressway just before the Kherki Daula toll plaza.

Apart from this patrolling vehicle and over-speeding detection cameras will be provided to the traffic cops.

As per the plan, specially trained cops will be deployed at the police stations and they will assist in traffic management as well as in getting timely aid for the accident victims.

They will be trained to calm an emergency or trauma victim, to use a basic life support system with the help of first aid for basic emergencies.

The traffic cops will have specially designed fully-equipped uniforms and motorbikes which will have installed first-aid kit, walky-talky, torch and among other accessories.

"We would like to give fearless journey to our commuters on the Expressway and other stretches as well. We will deploy trained cops who will assist the victims on a priority basis," the Commissioner, said.
