A 27-year-old traffic police constable was injured after being hit by a speeding car near the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Monday.
A senior police officer said constable Shakti Singh and sub-inspector Surender Singh, posted at the Indira Gandhi Traffic Circle, were on duty when the incident happened.
“The constable waved hand towards a speeding SUV asking it to stop,” the officer said.
However, the driver did not stop and hit the police personnel and fled from the spot, said a senior police officer.
The constable, who was injured, was taken to AIIMS where he is currently undergoing treatment but he is out of danger, he said.
Police have identified the offending vehicle and its driver and are on a lookout for the accused. “ We have formed a police team which is making efforts in searching for the errant driver,” said the officer.
