Within few hours after The Pioneer reported vans having private registration numbers openly plying as passenger carriers flouting all norms and rules in North Delhi area, Delhi Traffic Police on Thursday cracked down on such vans allegedly taking cognizance of the report and seized more than two dozen such vans.
However, some of the driver’s apparently in their bid to evade the ‘unprecedented’ crackdown from traffic Police continue to operate by changing their usual route. They were seen even plying in the wrong direction on a one way stretch to trespass the barricade by the traffic police.
Ironically, most of the vans were still seen parked at Wazirabad main road illegally.
Upon enquiry, one of the driver said that they are now avoiding Wazirabad flyover to reach at Kashmiri Gate. Instead, they prefer to take the wrong side of the carriageway to reach Kashmiri Gate via Timarpur.
