The Confederation of All India Trade (CAIT) has written a letter to Union Urban Development Minister Hardeep Puri on Sunday, urging him to constitute sub-committee, which includes different representatives of township, architecture and traders while preparing the draft of next Master Plan of Delhi (MPD).
CAIT officials also said the failure of all Master Plans since 1962 is attributed to non-serious, irresponsible, lethargic attitude and inaction of the authorities. Therefore, providing relief to traders from ongoing sealing is possible by bringing an ordinance in the ongoing session of Parliament and drafting of new MPD 2021-2041, a release from CAIT stated.
Markets across the city has been facing the wrath of the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee as , thousands of shops have been sealed since last December and there is still no sign of relief amid all the coordinated efforts put up by all the regarding stakeholders.
Forced with the circumstances, traders associations had, earlier this month, stalled all the commercial activities by calling a total shutdown in the city. The action to seal the establishments is taken by the civic bodies for non-payment of conversion charges, encroachment, and illegal construction.
