Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra on Wednesday exposed a major scam of more than `5 crore by private security contractor on contract with Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) and recommended blacklisting of company from Government security contracts.
The Minister soon lodged an FIR against security contractor Kore Securities, which has indulged in massive violation of existing labour laws and conducted financial fraud at a grand scale.
During investigation it was found that the security contractor, Kore Securities, was collecting over `22,000 per security guard per month while paying only `8,000 to each guard, as opposed to the contractually agreed upon `13,000 per month. This fraud brings the amount paid to security guards lower than the minimum wage in Delhi.
No weekly off-days were provided to security guards (601 in total) whilst the company continued to bill the Delhi Government, effectively robbing the security guards of theirwell-deserved salary, said the government official adding that the total loss to the exchequer is worked out to be over `5 crore.
