Deepak Mishra, the 1984 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and Special Commissioner of Police (DG Scale) law and Order, was on Monday posted as the Special CP (Administration).
The post was lying vacant after the superannuation of Vimla Mehra.
With Mishra’s elevation to the No-2 post in the Delhi Police hierarchy, the post of Special CP (law and Order) has been split into two with the posting of SBK Singh (1988 batch IPS) and P Kamraj (1987 batch IPS) as the Special CP (law and Order) North and South respectively.
This is the first top level reshuffle in the Delhi Police after Alok Kumar Verma took over as the Delhi Police Commissioner on February, 29 this year.
The rejig among the Delhi Police officers was on the cards after the transfer of Dharmendra Kumar and SN Srivastava as Additional DGs in CISF and CRPF respectively.
It may be noted the idea to split the post of Special CP (law and Order) was mooted by the then Police Commissioner BS Bassi. SBK Singh, posted as Special CP (Security) had held several important assignments in the Delhi Police. He was DCP North east, Central before proceeding on Central deputation. He had held the post of Additional CP (EOW) and later as Joint CP (Crime and Railways).
P Kamraj, currently posted as Special CP (Establishment) had held the posts of DCp Traffic, DCP South West and South. He had also served as Additional CP Crime before being posted with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). On his return from the Central posting, Kamraj was posted as Joint CP New Delhi Range. He was sent as DGP of Puducherry and returned to the Delhi Police as Special CP (Establishment)
Apart from the top level reshuffle, district DCPs of South, South West and East districts were changed. RA Sanjeev the DCP South West has been sent to PHQ DCP Establishment and Surender Kumar has been posted in his place.
The much-sought after post of DCP South has gone to Ishwar Singh while DCP East Bhairon Singh Gujjar who was posted recently has been sent to Police Training College while Rishipal the DCP (land and Building) has been posted as the new DCP of East district. AK Singh and Gnan Sambhandhan have been posted as the DCP Traffic. Arun Kampani, the Additional CP (legal) has been posted to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in the same capacity.
