Too cool for school

Taking cognizance of biting cold conditions, the District Magistrate (DM) of Ghaziabad Vimal Kumar Sharma has ordered closure of all schools in the district till January 10 as cold wave intensifies in Uttar Pradesh.

Government schools and Central schools have also been included in the closure mandate.  “Necessary instructions have been issued to Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) to ensure 100 per cent closure of the schools in the district. Strict action will be initiated against schools found flouting the orders,” Sharma said.

According to the data of the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in the State was recorded in Meerut at 2.3 degrees Celsius. Met Office forecast says that Tuesday will be dry and fog would occur at many places over the State. These factors have been considered and orders have been issued to all the schools in the district, the DM said.

Sharma in his order stated that the Principal Secretary, Education Department Jitendra Kumar of UP administration ordered all the District Magistrates that in view of the ongoing cold wave across the entire State, the UP Government has taken the decision to close down all public and private schools. The decision has been taken in view of the health risk to the schoolgoing children. “I have forwarded the Government decision to enforce across CBSE, ICSE and UP Board affiliated private, Government and Government-aided schools” the DM said.
