In a move aimed at inviting competitive pricing, the Uttar Pradesh Government has accorded clearance to a mega housing project on the borders of Gautam Buddh Nagar and Bulandshahr districts. The Government’s decision is not surprising as it is trying to woo investors in these projects since many housing projects are mired in controversy in Noida Extension area. As per the plan, the area will be developed by Bulandshahr Khurja Industrial Development Authority under which more than 1 lakh flats will be constructed.
According to authority officials, as the Government has given the go-ahead for the township, they have authorised a real estate company to carry out construction work. The project will come up on around 25,000 hectares of land consisting of 11 villages between Dadri and Sikandrabad. Though the area is a part of Noida Extension but it falls under Bulandshahr Khurja Authority. The authority has also said that more than 500 bighas of land have been acquired by the authority and the process of acquiring land is on.
Senior authority officials said that the State Government has given its nod and the authority has started its paperwork. Construction work will be carried out by the builders and civic infrastructure like water, roads, sewerage and electricity will be developed by the authority itself. The area will be the part of Noida Extension and will be connected with major roads of Gautam Buddh Nagar, Bulandshahr, Ghaziabad and Hapur. The villages on which the project is proposed are Dhaula, Rajpura, Mandpa, Til, Tuharli, Kot, Derin, Fazalpur, Chandawli, Salepur, Adhel, Biswana, Faridpur and Hasanpur of Noida Extension. The previous BSP Government has merged these villages in Bulandshahr Khurja Authority along with other villages of the region.
Meanwhile, the farmers’ bodies, which have been fighting against land acquisition in the area, have ridiculed the authorities for announcing such projects from the back door. “Since no one has consulted the farmers’ body, we oppose any such move before the parliamentary election. The decision has been taken to provide benefit to a few builders and the farmers will not support it,” said Dushyant Nagar, convener, Kisan Sangharsh Samiti (KSS).
