To water down the crisis in Dwarka, l-G orders DDA to supply free

Delhi’s lieutenant-Governor, Najeeb Jung, on Thursday directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to explore the possibility of providing water tankers gratis to Dwarka for the next three months to tide over the water crisis.

The DDA, in turn, said it would review the situation and assured Jung that by May 20 water from additional tubewells shall be made available, which will be able to serve Dwarka area. Jung directed the DDA to speed up work on these tubewells so that additional water is immediately made available to the residents of Dwarka.

Jung had earlier directed the DDA to supplement water supply to Dwarka and had held a meeting with the vice-chairman of DDA, engineer member-DDA, CEO-Delhi Jal Board (DJB), member (water) DJB, Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) South-West, tehsildar Dwarka and SDM Dwarka. The l-G had held another meeting with the Chief Secretary and CEO of DJB and heads of all discoms and Power Secretaries regarding the issues, which is a follow-up meeting to the one taken by him on April 23.
