Days after Delhi Development Authority ( DDA) approved landfill sites near Yamuna bed river, Delhi BJP State president Manoj Tiwari, along with other BJP workers, staged dharna at Sadhe Teen Pushta, Kartar Nagar near the proposed landfill site at Ghonda Gujran Khadar and Sonia Vihar.
It is important to mention here that Zone - O of capital is under reserved category and any kind of pucca construction is prohibited in the river bed area.
Meanwhile, Tiwari said that the Congress Party which ruled Delhi for a long time and the present Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP) Government are responsible for this crisis of garbage disposal. "The successive Congress government in Delhi allowed unauthorized colonies to come up in Delhi but did not frame any concrete policy for garbage disposal. Even if some policies were framed it was not implemented at all," the BJP leader said.
Tiwari further said, "The public land continued to be grabbed and the Governments did not rise from its slumber, adding," we will not allow 20 lakh people of the area to suffer due to mismanagement of garbage and with the cooperation of the people we will force Delhi Government to make alternative arrangement for this purpose."
