Seeking action against the errant police officer who allegedly opened fire at 19-year-old Karan Pandey while performing stunt on a bike, his mother Manju Pandey on Monday met Delhi’s l-G and the Delhi Police Commissioner.
She demanded stringent action against the three cops who allegedly shot at her son last year leading to his death. “My son was shot dead by PCR inspector Rajneesh Parmar. Constable Sudarshan Kumar and Amar Singh were also present in the PCR van with him. The three are liable for this and ought to be punished,” said Pandey.
On Monday morning the mother along with her family members visited the Delhi Police Commissioner’s office who assured them that action will be taken as soon as the magistrate enquiry report is handed over to them. later they visited the
l-G’s office where he was not present but his OSD assured him that they had received the report and within two days the matter would reach its logical conclusion. “Our son was killed. We have been waiting for more than six months and now the magisterial enquiry has revealed negligence on part of the police,” said Sunil Kumar, Karan’s uncle.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has also demanded action against Delhi Police officials after enquiry report on biker’s death last year and Madhu Vihar gang-rape case on Sunday evening. A Government spokesperson said that the Chief Minister will take appropriate action on these issues. The CM is also going to write a letter to Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde regarding action taken by them on guilty police officials.
The Delhi Police had earlier said that Karan Pandey, riding pillion with his friend, was part of a biker gang which turned rowdy and pelted stones at the PCR van on the intervening night of July 27, 2013, following which PCR inspector Rajneesh Parmar fired a bullet which accidentally hit Pandey. However, the report by the DM have termed the police version as “highly doubtful” and said that police used “unnecessary force.”
