A mobile game structured around the life of a woman, a product that helps asthma patients and a real time security project for ATM thefts beat innovations of 60,000 students and lifted the Microsoft Imagine Cup on Tuesday. Split over three fields — gaming, innovation and world citizenship — the competition evaluated upcoming talent in the field of technology. Often referred to as the Olympics of Technology, this year’s edition of the Imagine Cup saw some innovative ideas.

Winner of the gaming section, Team Seven Summits, came up with a game called Petite that tracks the life of a woman where one has to unlock varied emotions in order to cross the level. The game takes you through different experiences based on these emotions. “We found out that people who read don’t play games because it kills imagination. So we made this game where the player can be imaginative because of the realistic nature of the game,” said Asar Dhandala, a member of the team. Team Dexters, who won in the innovation category, had come up with a product called RespireOn which helps asthma patients stay fit at all times. “The product is an inhaler and is integrated with a sensor where every time the user moves away from it an alarm goes up. There is also a panic button on the inhaler where if the user is ever in a medical emergency, a message will be sent to doctors and his relatives immediately,” said Roshit Gopinath, a member of the team.
