Three shot dead in G’gram in ‘gangwar’

Three people were shot dead at Basai village and CRPF society in Gurugram’s Sector 9 on Thursday evening after a “gangwar” broke out between two groups.

The victims, all in their mid-20s, are said to be associates of criminals and were killed over property disputes, the police said.

A group of gangsters first shot a youth at Basai village and later entered the Wing Enclave Society in Sector 9, where two more persons were killed. One of them got injured, while the others fled the spot.

The Police reached the spot along with forensic experts and took the bodies and the injured in their custody.

According to police, the deceased have been identified as Sumeer, Sunny and Anmol. All of them are residents of Basai village.

The incident took place after six armed men riding on a motorcycle and scooty intercepted Sameer at Basai village at around 5.30 pm and shot him.

Three other boys named Sunny, Angrez and Anmol, who were accompanying Sameer, fled on a bike. But the armed men chased them to Sector 9. When they opened fire, the trio barged into New CRPF Society in Sector 9.

The armed men followed them and during the subsequent shootout Anmol and Sunny were also killed, while Angrez was critically injured. The accused managed to flee the spot. The society residents were in shock after the incident and called the police.

Police said that Anmol and Sunny had criminal backgrounds.

"They had a property dispute with another group and that seems to be the motive behind the elimination. The deceased were accused of murdering a boy of the other group. We are investigating all angles and the accused will be nabbed soon,” said Preet Pal Singh Sangwan, ACP (crime).

During the initial investigation, the police suspect that the Pawan Nehra group of Bhudka Kalan village is behind the crime.

Soon after the alleged incident the Gurugram police commissioner formed a team of four crime investigation agencies (CIA) including a team of sector-9A police station to identify, track and arrest the culprits.

“An investigation into the matter is underway. We are scanning the CCTV footage near the location of the incident spot and got lead inputs about the criminals who will be arrested soon,” Sangwan said.
