The South-East district police claims to have busted a gang of robbers after nabbing three young men — one of whom, police say, was inspired by the Bollywood flick Dhoom.
The police claimed that the group was involved in over 20 such incidents of snatching and robbery. Police have also recovered 10 gold chains and three stolen motorcycles.
Additional Commissioner of Police (South-East) Ajay Chaudhary said that the accused have been identified as Sonu alias lovely (23), Kartar Singh alias Rinku (23) and the receiver Gopal Singh Verma.
“Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Station House Officer (SHO) Amar Colony-- Inspector Virender under the overall supervision of ACP Harcharan Verma laid a trap near Capt Gaur Marg in front of Okhla Mandi on March 13 and arrested Sonu and Kartar when they were passing on a stolen Pulsar motorbike,” he added.
Chaudhary said that the accused tried to flee but were over powered by the alert team.
