This is the pits! Road cave-in triggers traffic snarls

Published on:

Huge traffic jams were reported near India Gate in the heart of the Capital on Monday morning. A part of Bhagwan Das Road in front of the Supreme Court had caved in, triggering traffic snarls. Commuters complained that they were stuck for as long as two hours at India Gate and traffic spilled to the Connaught Place circles.

Pankaj Rawat, a commuter whined that he was stuck in jam for over an hour. To the utter dismay of people, the Delhi Traffic Police termed the road cave-in as a pothole.

“Traffic was heavy from Akbar Road C-Hexagon towards Rajpath C-Hexagon due to the pothole. Ashoka Road and Rajendra Prasad Road witnessed major traffic jams during peak hours due to the diversion from C-Hexagon, India Gate and Rajpath,” the traffic police posted on its Facebook page.
