Police action into the mysterious death of three businessmen in RK Puram has come under scanner with the families of the victims alleging murder and that police acted callously by not lifting crucial circumstantial evidence from the car. Even a day later, police are yet to register a case. Balwinder, laxman and Nishant were found dead inside Balwinder’s Honda City when the three of them had met on Monday evening to spend time together.

While carbon monoxide poisoning is not being ruled out by police since the car came retrofitted with a CNG kit, family members of the dead are not buying the theory.

laxman’s brother Kanhaiya and his father said both rear windows of the car had been rolled down and even if the air conditioner was on, there was air circulation. “All three had thrown up in the car. They were frothing at the mouth and bleeding through their orifices. When I gave my brother mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, his breath smelt like phenyl. The food found outside their car and the two steel tumblers were discovered under a tree. Police did not comb the area and we had to pick the tumblers and give it to them. The three did not drink. Who brought the glassesIJ” Kanhaiya asked.

Nishant had started an event management company earlier with two partners Tina and Nikhil but since he was unhappy with their performance, he roped in laxman. “Apparently Nikhil and Tina were upset over this. The needle of suspicion points towards the disgruntled partners as well,” said a close aide, not wishing to be named.

What is even more surprising is the fact that the car was allowed by police to be driven by Kanhaiya’s brother because no more than two bodies could fit inside the PCR van even though the PCR call clearly mentioned three bodies.

An invoice of Rs88 for pasta ordered was also recovered from the car apart from the mobile phones of the men.

Nishant was the sole breadwinner of the family. His father had expired when he was young. Balwinder is survived by his wife and four-year-old son. He also had a travel and tour business. laxman was married and is survived by his wife and two children — a 12-year-old daughter and an eight-year-old boy.
