Thampu revokes suspension of Stephen's official Dash

In the recent development following the conversion row at St Stephen’s College, sources have said that principal of the college Valson Thampu has revoked the suspension of administrative officer Subha Kumar Dash. Thampu had earlier suspended Dash for “gross misconduct” after which Dash accused Thampu of trying to convert him to Christianity.

The issue was also dragged to the High Court by Dash who filed a petition challenging his suspension. The case was on Wednesday transferred to another bench of the Delhi High Court since Justice Hima Kohli recused herself as she is a Stephanian.

Dash had moved the court alleging that he was suspended and barred from entering the institute’s campus without the approval of the governing body of the college. He also sought an injunction against any action by the governing body.

However, though Thampu has now reportedly revoked the suspension, the governing body meeting has been scheduled for December 19 when this issue will be taken up. According to sources, it is most likely that the suspension will be accepted by the GB.

The suspension order was issued on December 10 for allegedly sending derogatory and defamatory SMSes to the administration and to the college community, said sources.
