A 10-year-old boy has displayed exemplary courage and common sense and helped the police nab a burglar.
Ravi studies in class V at a Government school and is son of Rajkala, who was employed by a businessman to take care of his house in Chittaranjan Park. The C-7, Greater Kailash-II Enclave house is managed by the 30-year-old since the family is settled in the US.
A senior police officer told the tale of Ravi's bravery. "On Tuesday, around 1.20 pm, when Ravi came home from school, he found the door ajar," he said. The boy locked the door from outside and immediately alerted his mother that he could also hear some people murmuring inside.
"Together, the two returned to the house and created a commotion, demanding to know who was inside. A woman's voice replied that she was the cleaner. Soon, though, two figures escaped from the backdoor," the officer added.
Without fear, Ravi started chasing the woman. He ran after her for a kilometre, after which he spotted a beat constable and yelled for help. Finally, the woman was caught and a stolen purse recovered.
According to the police, 35-year-old Gyarsi is a proclaimed offender and has been arrested twice before in the past couple of years. She named two associates, who are still on run. A case under Sections 380, 454, 411 and 34 of the IPC has been registered at CR Park Police Station.
