A 17-year-old boy drowned in a famous water park where he had gone for fun with his friends on Wednesday, police said. The body of deceased Gagandeep was recovered from a pool inside the Splash — The Water Park located at Outer Delhi’s Alipur area. Police has lodged a case under relevant sections at Alipur police station and handed over the body after an autopsy. Gagandeep went to the water park with friends Jaswinder, Simran, Tanvi, Raja and Shanu at 1.30 pm on Wednesday. The group claims to have informed the swimming pool’s lifeguard that they were not good at swimming. Gagandeep’s friend Jaswinder said that the pool was crowded due to which nobody noticed Gagandeep drowning.
He also said that no lifeguard was on duty when they returned to the pool. Soon, there was chaos when Gagandeep was finally taken out from the deep end of the pool. “No lifesaving first aid was provided in the water park,” Jaswinder said.
Gagandeep was taken to the hospital where he was declared brought dead. He was the resident of Vishnu Garden. On the basis of Jaswinder’s statement, a case under section 304A (causing death by negligence) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered with Alipur police station.
