An 18-year-old youth was allegedly stabbed to death when he tried to pacify a scuffle between two parties over shoulder collision in Central Delhi’s Nabi Karim area on Sunday night. The deceased is identified as Yaseen while the injured identified as, Farman (15).
According to a senior police official, after having dinner, Yaseen and Shadaab (17) were sitting on a rickshaw outside the staircase of the ground floor, in the meantime, Danish (17) and Farman were getting down from the first floor of the building. Danish, who was behind Farman, was talking over his phone with someone.
“Meanwhile, one Mohammad Rizwan (29) and his friend, Shehnawaz (23) were climbing upstairs. An argument broke out between Danish and Rizwan in the middle of the stairs after their shoulders collided with each other. Danish was busy speaking on phone when his shoulder collided with that of Rizwan after which all the four persons came downstairs and an argument again ensued between the two parties in the street,” said the senior police official.
“Shehnawaz pushed Rizwan towards the stairs and told him that, “I will handle the kids.” Once again the matter escalated and a scuffle broke. In a bid to pacify the situation between the two parties, Yaseen intervened. During the process, Farman abused Shehnawaz. Enraged over this, Shehnawaz took out a knife and stabbed Yaseen immediately after which Danish ran behind Shehnawaz,” said the police official.
“However, Farman caught hold of him following which he forcefully stabbed him in his abdomen. Danish and Shadab both run behind Shehnawaz but in the meantime Yaseen collapsed and Rizwan was watching all this from the stairs,” said the police official privy to investigation.
“The two were rushed to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where Yaseen succumbed while Farman is undergoing treatment and is stated to be stable,” said the police official.
“A case has been registered and the Rizwan alias Raju and Shehnawaz have been arrested and the blood stained knife used in commission of crime has also been seized, said the police adding that none of the accused nor the victim had any previous criminal record. The duo accused worked in a bag manufacturing unit,” said the police official.
