A 19-year old youth on Sunday found dead under mysterious circumstances. The youth was found lying in a pool of blood outside his house in West Delhi area. It appears that he allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself outside his residence. Police say prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide but homicide angle is also being probed. Was it an accidental firing or a homicidal in nature.
According to Anto Alphonse, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Dwarka district the deceased is identified as Gulshan a resident of Matiala in Dwarka district.
“ A call was made on the Police Control Room (PCR) at around 6:18 am on Sunday from Aakash Hospital regarding admission of Gulshan having gunshot injury”, DCP said.
“A team was rushed to the hospital where it was told by the doctors that Gulshan was declared brought dead. He was having a gunshot injury suggesting a very close range fire. The team also recovered four live cartridges of .765 mm from the deceased pocket,” said the DCP.
“Ranbir Singh, the father of deceased told the police that his son caused gunshot injury to himself. The deceased arrived in the morning, rang the doorbell and when Singh opened the door, he found him having the injury and lying on the floor following which Singh rushed him to hospital,” said the DCP.
“The weapon by which he committed suicide has been recovered. It is a country made pistol, which was found loaded with two rounds during inspection. We are investigating the matter with angle of suicide and even accidental firing of the gun,” said a senior police official.
