A 25-year-old woman journalist, working with a leading electronic media house, was molested on Thursday evening in East Delhi’s Mayur Vihar Phase-I area. The victim fought back the two men who misbehaved with her and handed over one of them to police.
According to police, the incident occurred when the woman was on her way back from work around 7 pm. A rickshaw-puller and his relative, who saw her walking alone, passed lewd remarks at her and also molested her.
The accused have been identified as Shafiq and Fantoos. The victim tried ignoring them but they continued making obscene gestures and even tried to attack the victim. The local people around rushed to help the victim. Meanwhile, the girl caught hold of Shafiq. Police was informed and Shafiq was handed over to the police.
“A case of molestation and outraging the modesty of a woman has been registered at Pandav Nagar Police Station. Efforts are being made to nab the other accused,” said Ajay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East).
