A day after the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) on Monday notified principals of 12 Delhi Government’s 100 per cent funded colleges in the University of Delhi to install the biometric attendance system for teachers within a week’s time, teachers’ body has opposed the move.
Academics for Action and Development (AAD) committee of DU said that the DHE or the Delhi Government does not have any administrative control over these colleges. In a statement issued to the press by the AAD, these 12 colleges come under the exclusive jurisdiction of the regulations issued by the university. “The colleges of DU are bound by the act, statutes and ordinances of the university and any attempt from any outside agency is a blatant encroachment on the autonomy of the colleges of DU,” read the statement.
