A 62-year-old retired Government School teacher allegedly committed suicide at his residence on Saturday evening in West Delhi’s Moti Nagar. Madan Mohan Chopra was found hanging from a ceiling fan. He was depressed because his cancer finding was too much to bear.

According to police, the incident occurred in West Delhi’s Moti Nagar area on Saturday evening. “The PCR received a call at around 4.05 pm. Chopra’s daughter noticed the main door ajar,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (West District), Ranvir Singh. No suicide note was left behind but preliminary investigations indicate his recent cancer diagnosis had left him morose.

He is survived by his two children, both married. An inquest is being carried out.

In another incident from South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj, a student of Bachelors in Business Administration (BBA) from Noida’s Amity University committed suicide by hanging himself on Saturday morning.
