In Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case, Rajesh and Nupur Talwar requested the court to summon then CBI Joint Director Arun Kumar for his testimony before the court. Kumar had claimed that Talwars’ daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj were murdered by servants.
Talwars’ Defence counsel Manoj Shishodia said that he has submitted an application before the CBI court in which he has requested the court to summon 13 people for testimony.
“We requested the court since the CBI had submitted the list of 141 witnesses but produced only 39 for testimony. The 12 witnesses whom we have requested the court to summon are from the original list of the CBI which it submitted. We have added one additional name the then joint director CBI Arun Kumar who claimed Talwars innocent at that time,” Shishodia said.
But the CBI opposed the application. The court has kept the order reserved for May 4, 2013.
The Defence counsel said, “If court order to summon them, we would be able to cross examine them since there have been deviations in the statements recorded during investigation under section 161 of CrPC and during testimony. The persons before whom the statements were recorded could only reveal the reasons before the court”.
The court of the Special judge CBI S lal adjourned the hearing for May 2.
