In the Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case, the CBI court rejected Talwars’ plea to summon senior journalist Nalini Singh and CBI officer as witnesses. Defence lawyer Manoj Shishodia said that the special judge rejected the plea in his order delivered at 5 pm.

“There is no question of summoning Nalini Singh and Anuj Arya as court witnesses in the case. This petition was submitted with an aim to delay the start of final arguments on part of the defence, so it is rejected,” the Court of Additional Sessions Judge Shyam lal said.

During arguments, the CBI opposed the defence plea and submitted that the accused were trying to delay the proceedings under one or other pretexts. The court also observed that the defence attempted to delay, hence, the application is rejected.

The CBI judge adjourned the court for October 24, 2013 to record the defence arguments.Aarushi, 14, was found murdered at her parents’ Noida residence on May 16, 2008. The body of Hemraj was found the next day on the terrace of the house.
