The trial of the sensational Aarushi-Hemraj murder case on Thursday entered its last stage with the CBI concluding final arguments. On the fourth day of its arguments, the prosecuting agency claimed the parents of the deceased had killed the duo.
Concluding its arguments, the CBI also claimed that dentist couple Rajesh and Nupur Talwar misled investigators during the course of the probe on different occasions and were involved in destruction of evidence as well. Special CBI prosecutor RK Saini told
the court of Additional Sessions Judge Shyam lal that Rajesh did not recognise Hemraj’s body when it was found on the terrace, while others present there recognised it; and they had also got the outermost iron door of their apartment removed to mislead investigation. The court fixed October 18 for beginning the hearing of defence arguments.
“The Talwars misled investigators during the course of investigation on different occasions. They were also involved in the destruction of evidence. By our arguments, charges of murder with common intention (Section 302/34) and destruction of evidence (Section 201/34) are proved on both the accused. Besides, Section 203 of the IPC is also proved on Rajesh for registering a wrong FIR at the police station,” Saini said.
The CBI lawyer also told court that there was a plywood partition between Aarushi’s and her parents’ bedroom, and that this partition had been varnished. But, Talwars got this plywood partition painted in a colour that matched the other cemented walls in Aarushi’s bedroom.
“Talwars’ conduct has been suspicious since the beginning of this case. For instance, when personnel from Noida Sector 20 Police Station asked Rajesh about the identity of the body, he did not recognise him (Hemraj), whereas others present there could tell. As per the post-mortem examination report and statements of police officials, Hemraj’s body was in an unrecognisable condition,” Saini argued.
lastly, the CBI lawyer stressed that on the night of the crime there were only four persons in the house — Rajesh, Nupur, their daughter Aarushi and the servant Hemraj. There No outside entry to the house had taken place; therefore, the parents were the only killers of the daughter and the manservant.
