TAKEN TO THE ClEANERS? AAP IN SPIN CYClE of rinse & repeat

Furthering their attack against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), their breakaway organisation AAP Volunteer Action Manch (AVAM) on Tuesday said that if the party didn’t come clean on the issues raised by them in 48 hours they would file a complaint with the Election Commission (EC), Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Economic Offences Wing (EOW).

Additionally, they asked the Arvind Kejriwal-led party to disclose names of the companies which donated Rs2 crore to it and threatened to launch an agitation if it fails to do so in 48 hours. AVAM’s Gopal Goel said, “After the end of 48 hours, we will launch an agitation against the AAP. We will demonstrate against it from February 5. We will also go and complain with Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi Police, Enforcement Directorate, Registrar of Companies of the Corporate Affairs, RBI and also to EC.”

The AAP has rejected the charges and demanded a Supreme Court-monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe funding of all three major parties in Delhi polls. A day after it alleged AAP of receiving Rs2 crore from dubious companies, AVAM on Tuesday demanded action against members of AAP’s Political Affairs Committee if they had taken decision to receive the donation.

“We want the party to come up with the cover letter which they received along with the cheques from those companies. We also want them to make public the minute of the meetings of the PAC which cleared the transaction,” Goel said. Challenging the fledgling party, AVAM said that they dared them to serve them a defamation notice if what they’ve said is false. “We have made it clear that just the fact that the money came through a cheque doesn’t make it clean money,” said AVAM spokesperson.

AVAM also brought in issues relating to a sting done on AVAM in August. “We demand that AAP within the next 48 hours should reveal who had last year sent fake SMS of AVAM in July also who did the fake sting of AVAM in August. We demand for the raw footage of that sting operation. Do they have the courage to put raw footage in public domainIJ We also want the covering letters of all the four companies’ cheques to be put in public,” added the spokesperson.

Another volunteer of AVAM, Karan Singh today also alleged that the party had tried to “lure” him with a ticket from Sonepat of Haryana.
