T-Series' fake CMD sings like a canary

Published on:

The sacked employee of T-Series, Kishan Kumar, arrested along with his accomplice Vikash Dutt — a radio jockey from All India Radio (AIR) — used to hoodwink budding singers by wheedling out money from them by posing as the CMD of the company.

Sources said Kumar tried to mislead investigators by fabricating a narrative. After sustained grilling and Dutt’s arrest, he broke down and revealed his rubric. “He told police he had conjured up visiting cards to support his claim as CMD of T-Series. Whenever he met an aspiring singer or musician, he always proffered his card,” sources informed.

Investigators claimed that Kumar had duped many burgeoning singers and musicians on the pretext of offering them a big break through his music label. He enlisted Dutt’s services when badgered with calls for money to be returned.

“For the past one year, apart from threatening Super Cassette Industries limited’s (SCIl) director Ved Parkash Chanan, the duo threatened many others masquerading as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha and RJD president lalu Prasad,” a police officer said, adding investigators are collating evidence and are in hot pursuit of more targets.

In a related development, investigators will send Dutt’s voice samples to the Central Forensic Science laboratory (CFSl) to find a match with call recordings between Chanan and the crank caller. Both Kumar and Dutt are in judicial custody and police will apply for their remand in shortly. Vikash Dutt had modulated his voice and asked the CMD to first reinstate a sacked employee. Kishan Kumar had been working with SCIl for the past five years as a liaison consultant.
