In a bid to provide the Capital a world-class integrated garbage management and disposal system, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation inaugurated an integrated Solid Waste Management System on Wednesday.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh dedicated to the city a world-class integrated garbage management and disposal system under the SDMC. The system aims to make the South Delhi localities garbage free, clean, pollution free and green. Singh inaugurated the new system under the Central Zone of the SDMC.

Singh appreciated the efforts of the SDMC in developing and putting in place an integrated system for collection and transportation of the garbage to be taken up to the land fill site or recycling site.

Describing it as an important programme which must be automatically monitored, Singh  referred to the Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 2, 2014.

“The system being launched in the SDMC is in continuation of the Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan.  The collection of garbage from large number of points in the Central Zone is a challenging work and the SDMC will be able to succeed in its new venture,” he added.

“The system launched today will go a long way in further improving the ranking of the SDMC.  With improvement in cleaning and sanitation in the SDMC, the attraction of Delhi will become more forceful for the citizens of the country and foreigners,” said Singh.
