The arrested accused are Amandeep Singh (29), Harpreet Singh (30) and Harnish Sarpal (36).
In continuation after a drug syndicate with 14 kg meow meow was busted in July last year where nine accused were nabbed, police kept a tab on the movement on the drug lords.
Talking about the modus operandi, a senior officer, close to the investigation shared that the main source of Meow Meow drugs is East African countries. “The drug cartel were routed through ships. The involvement of staff at the sea shores is under investigation. From here, the drug cartels used to reach India and were supplied to metropolitan cities. In the international markets, these psychotropic drugs were supplied to UAE, UK, USA, Europe and other West-Asian countries.
Police said that the drug syndicate was highly organised. The main kingpins of the gang are Kailash Rajput currently living in Dubai and Kishan, who is currently in UK. Kishan has a chain of his associates in Mumbai. Once, the consignment reaches Mumbai, Kishan and Kailash Rajput co-ordinate between their Delhi-Mumbai based agents where Amandeep, Hanish and Harpreet Singh are Delhi-based agents and are directed to fetch the consignments and subsequently send it to UAE, UK, USA, Malaysia and other West-Asian countries for which they are paid appropriately.
On February 11, police received secret information that one Singh along with his associate would soon be flying to Mumbai to get the consignment of the said contraband drugs and would return to Delhi on the night of February 13 and 14.
Based on the information that Amandeep would be coming to Delhi in the wee hours of February 15 through train, police laid a trap at the New Delhi railway station. A police informer identified Amandeep after which the police swung into action and went towards the suspect. However, he tried to flee from the spot. On checking, police found 25 kg worth Meow Meow drugs stashed with clothes in the handbags. Based on which, police registered a case.
During interrogation, Amandeep confessed that he did a diploma course in Tourism and Hospitality from Australia. living abroad for two years, he got in touch with one Kishan and Hanish. leading a luxurious lifestyle with Kishan, Amandeep and Hanish, due to unavoidable circumstances had to return to India. In order to live the same lifetstyle full of drugs and parties, they too came up with the idea of getting into the drug syndicate.
Introduced to the world of drug peddling by Kishan, Amandeep and Harnish started living a lavish life. Attracted by their neighbours, Harpreet Singh, a well known discuss throw player got in touch with these two so called business tycoons.
In 2005, failing to clear the dope test for a national level championship, Harpreet then quit the games especially when he could not participate in the trials of the CommonWealth Games of 2010 due to a permanent injury.
“Since, Harpreet Singh was in dire need of instant money, he agreed accordingly and started working as their active associate in supplying of drugs. Gradually, he started receiving handsome amount of commission against each deal and got rid of misery that he faced for years,” said Yadav.
