Three days after a four-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted inside the DAV Public school in West Delhi’s Vikaspuri area, the Delhi Police on Monday said they have identified the accused Baldev, a sweeper in the school, and arrested him.
On September 16, he allegedly took the minor girl to a washroom and committed the crime, said police.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Pushpendra Kumar said, “We have identified and arrested the accused.”
Meanwhile, parents of the schoolchildren, including the victim on Monday, allegedly protested against the school authorities for not taking quick action against the accused.
Parents gathered in huge numbers and protested outside the school against the rise in cases of rape in the city and the inaction against the accused.
On Sunday, the victim reported the matter to her parents that she was allegedly molested by someone inside the washroom within the school premises on September 16.
Her parents then approached the local police and lodged a complaint. After a medical examination of the minor girl sexual assault was confirmed, a case under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and IPC was registered at the Vikaspuri police station.
Further investigations are on, said police.
