A 34-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife in front of three-year-old daughter outside the Thyagraj Stadium as he suspected her of infidelity on Monday.

On Monday, police were informed about a 40-year-old woman lying in front of one of the gates of Thyagraj Stadium. The woman was taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre where she was declared "brought dead". A blood-stained knife was recovered from the spot.

On the basis of CCTV footage obtained from the stadium and talking to locals, police made a sketch of the accused. After it was shown to the woman's children it was found that it was her husband Vinod who had killed her, said Deputy Commissioner of Police, south district, Ishwar Singh.

When police reached Vinod's house in Prem Gali in Kotla Mubarakapur, he was found to be absconding. Raids were conducted at his possible hideouts but he could not be traced.

On Tuesday, he was arrested from outer Delhi's Mundka on the basis of a tip-off, said the DCP.

Santoshi was earlier married to Rambabu, who died around seven-eight years back due to illness. Since then, she had been living with her six children. last year, she met Vinod and they got married.

Vinod was enraged after he saw his wife in a compromising position with another man on Monday, said the DCP.  He hatched a conspiracy to eliminate her.  He took her to INA Market, purchased a knife from a cutlery shop and they consumed liquor together.

He then took her to Gate number one of the stadium and inflicted multiple stab injuries on her, the DCP added.

After he was sure that she had died, he threw the knife and fled from the spot.  Santoshi's three-year-old daughter was also present on the spot but he did not harm her, police said.
