Suspecting his sister-in-law to be involved in an illicit relationship with another man, a 28-year-old man strangled to death the 30-year-old woman at their residence in Northwest Delhi's Mukundpur area, police said on Tuesday. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Gudiya.

Police said that after killing the woman, Nabi, the accused went up to the local police station to surrender.

Police said that the incident took place on April 16 late night when everyone in Gudiya's family was asleep. Finding everyone asleep, Nabi called his sister-in-law Gudiya to the terrace to have a conversation.

A few days before the murder, Nabi had allegedly smashed the mobile phone of Gudiya on the suspicion that she was talking to another man.

On late Sunday night, Gudiya was walking towards the terrace when Nabi started arguing with her and in a fit of anger, choked her with her dupatta.

After killing Gudiya, Nabi went downstairs and woke up his brother, Ramjani, Gudiya's husband and their children. After which Nabi went to the Bhalswa Dairy police station and narrated about the incident to the police personnel and was arrested. Police said that they have registered a case of murder and have sent the body for post-mortem.
