The Delhi Cabinet has decided to provide additional amount of Rs 54 crore to Rajiv Gandhi Super-speciality Hospital (RGSH) in Tahirpur to complete remaining works and upgrade it as per the norms of Green Building Concept. The estimated cost of the hospital was Rs 89.30 crore in 2002, which increased to Rs 153.68 crore in 2013.
According to sources, the part of this additional amount is required by PWD for restoration work necessitated on the ground that the condition of the building/services have deteriorated as the building remained unoccupied and was unused for some time as also for upgradation work to meet environmental and safety norms that have changed since 2007.

The hospital at Tahirpur intended to provide specialty services like cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, gastroenterology, GI surgery and other specialised care and act as a referral centre for primary and secondary healthcare institutions. In this hospital, OPD services were re-started on September 11, 2008.
later on, the Government decided to run this hospital under society mode, subsequently a director was appointed. An amount of Rs 99.71 crore was sanctioned for the entire project. In order to make the hospital fully functional and completion of remaining works and upgradation in keeping with the latest norms for Green Building and Energy Conservation, Protection System, etc. The Government has decided to approve a proposal to provide an additional amount of Rs 54 crore.
