The 135-km Western Peripheral Expressway, also known as Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway, is expected to be operational by March 2018.

The Super Expressway passes through Gurugram, Palwal, Mewat and Sonepat districts. Around 83 km of the road is yet to be completed. Meanwhile, the 53-km stretch between Manesar and Palwal is already operational with two toll plazas in place.

Once the Super Expressway is opened to the public, the 135-km stretch will connect National Highway 1 at Kundli in Sonepat district with Palwal district on NH-2. The expressway will also reduce the commuting time from Delhi to the towns of Kundli, Manesar and Palwal considerably.

It will provide faster access to the international and domestic airport to people in that region. The expressway will also be a high-speed link to northern Haryana with its southern districts like Sonepat, Jhajjar, Gurugram and Faridabad.

According to the administration officials, the project was started in 2007 with a completion time of three years but got delayed for seven years due to State politics and financial disputes.

"The BJP Government in Haryana has started and completed several transportation works in the State. The KMP Expressway work again resumes and will be completed by March,” they said.

The Dwarka Expressway hurdle has also been solved. “Also, the underpass works on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway at Shankar Chowk, Iffco Chowk, Signature Tower and Rajiv Chowk are likely to be completed by December end," said Haryana PWD Minister Rao Narbir Singh.

The operational part of the Super Expressway between Manesar and Palwal will also boost smooth transportation with other States, the Minister added.

As vehicles coming from northern India on National Highway number 1 and going towards Rajasthan and Gujarat can get on the Expressway and take National Highway number 8 at Manesar. Similarly, those driving towards central and southern India can take NH-2 at Palwal.

"The construction work of railway overbridges is also going on at Pataudi to Rewari Road, Jamalpur to Farrukhnagar Road, Wazirpur to Farrukhnagar Road and Gurugram to Bajghera Road simultaneously," the Minister, said.

"Within the three years of BJP Government in the State, the Government has taken approval for 20 national highways to be built across the State. Several projects are under progress and five highways of these projects will pass through  Gurugram district as well," the Minister said.
