The ongoing World Book Fair at the Pragati Maidan in the Capital may have something to offer all age groups but this time it has pulled the maximum crowd looking for exam guides and preparatory books with annual exams just around the corner, especially the Class XII Boards.
“This time we have put up an exam corner for higher Classes between IX and XII. It has been successful as a lot of people have thronged it in the last few days. Everyday several parents and teachers visit our stall and take a round of all shelves but end up buying exam books for their kids,” said the manager of the stall put up by VK Publication in hall no. 11 where several parents were seen exploring the exam preparation bookshelves.
The exam books with chapter-wise question answers for each subject are available for not just Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) but ICSE and State Boards also at attractive discounts. “I bought the exam guide for Geography for my daughter who has her XII Boards this year. I got a good discount of 25 per cent for a book which we usually get at a mere 10 per cent discount in the market,” said Dinesh, an elated parent.
Besides the study material for school children, books for competitive exams, especially civil services were also a big hit among visitors. “I am preparing for civil services exams and need a lot of study material. Here we are getting good discount and a huge variety of books to choose from,” said Aditya, an IAS aspirant.
A large number of book lovers are visiting the stalls and are glancing through the books. But that’s not all that the fair is about. The 20th book fair has also marked this edition with Kidz Bubble, a forum for young children to unleash their talent and creativity. This corner setup at hall no. 7 has pulled a swarm of kids accompanied by their parents to participate in various fun activities like mosaic painting, thread painting, collage making, leaf painting, drawing competitions, clay modeling, paper folding and other activities organised at the creative corner in the fair.
