Reconciliation may be on the cards for the two camps in the Aam Aadmi Party’s senior leadership, but if sources are to be believed, the party is not keen on a settlement.
According to sources, it is highly unlikely that the talks between the Yogendra Yadav-Prashant Bhushan camp and Arvind Kejriwal camp will lead to any positive conclusion. Sources added that after going through a tumultuous election where the party faced opposition from its own members, there was no way there could be reconciliation. They also hinted that Yadav and Bhushan could be ousted from the party soon.
Ever since Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal has returned from his 12-day long naturopathy treatment in Bengaluru, the party leadership has been holding meeting after meeting where people from either camp are having talks over reconciliation. However, while most of these leaders paint a rosy picture suggesting that there would be an end out to the infighting, sources have clearly indicated that there is no way out.
Sources said that the party faced lot of problems during the election campaign for Delhi Assembly elections as the duo was “not supportive” and created “ripples among volunteers”. They added that since the party had worked so hard to win this election, the Delhi unit of the party “could not be ignored as wished by the duo”. On asking if the duo was likely to be removed from the party, highly placed sources said that there were maximum chances of that happening.
However, in the meantime, the third attempt in three days to sort out contentious issues between Yadav and Kejriwal-led AAP, members from both the camps held a marathon meeting in South Delhi late evening on Wednesday. Apart from the issues related to the inner party democracy, transparency in the organisation, preparing an active list of volunteers at the earliest, identifying States the party will contest polls and appropriate role of Yadav and his future in the party were also discussed.
