The Special Task Force (STF) of the Haryana Police has added four more units to stop inter-State gangsters and other notorious criminals in their tracks. Also, the number of police personnel with STF has also been increased from 150 to 200. STF officials said, 32 more personnel from the police department will soon join STF and 100 computers engineers have been selected to join the Force.
The STF became functional earlier in March this year with four units — Gurugram, Sonipat, Hisar and Bahadurgarh and managed to arrest inter-state gangsters and other notorious criminals and recovered illegal firearms, ammunition and illegal substances from their possessions.
Now, STF has set up its unit in Sirsa, which will act as a special anti-narcotics unit, Rohtak and Panchkula. Besides, there will be a special cybercrime unit located in Gurugram. With this new unit, the total number of STF has increased to eight.
“We have increased the number of units from four to eight. If required more units will be increased further. Adding more units into the force will surely help to nab criminals quickly,” said DIG STF Satish Balan.
“We will soon hire 100 highly-qualified cyber expert personnel to deal with high profile criminals who used to chat with each other through social media platforms. A proposal in this regard has been sent of the Haryana government,” said a senior STF official adding that with the units in now almost all regions of the state they will able to move their teams quickly whenever they manage to track down any criminal.
Earlier in April, the STF had killed dreaded gangster Balraj Bhati in an encounter in Noida. He was a member of Sunder Bhati gang and carried a bounty of Rs 2.5 lakh on his head.
Also, the special force had recently arrested notorious criminal Sampat Nehra a member of Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The Rajasthan and Haryana police had fixed bounty of Rs 50 thousand each on his head.
