In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old girl has alleged that she has been raped by her step father for the past two years. The incident was reported in Southeast Delhi’s Jaitpur area on April 20.
Confirming the incident, DCP (Southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said, “A complaint was received from Butterfly Child Helpline on April 20 at 7.30 pm from a minor girl.” Following the complaint, the accused identified as Satpal Gupta was arrested on April 22, he added.
During investigation, it was found that the girl was sick and her mother brought her for medical treatment to Government dispensary. After observing the child, the dispensary alerted Delhi Child Protection Unit (DCPU) for further action. The member of child helpline, along with the victim, came to the police station upon which she was medically examined and her statement was recorded.
The DCP said, “38-year-old Satpal Gupta has been committing the assault for past 2-3 years and used to threaten her not to disclose the matter. Gupta, who belongs Shahjahapur district is a whitewasher (painter) by profession. The case was registered. Further investigation is on.”
