In a bid to combat trafficking of women and facilitate rehabilitate sex workers, the first State-level coordination committee meeting will be held on Tuesday. The high-level meeting will be attended by l-G Najeeb Jung, Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi and Ministry of Women and Child Development Secretary.

Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal met Delhi Chief Secretary KK Sharma in September and urged him to reconstitute the State-level coordination committee to combat trafficking of women.

Sharma said all issues raised by the DCW would be sorted out soon. Maliwal had also written to Union Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi and the Delhi Chief Secretary, urging them to convene a meeting of the Central Advisory Committee to combat trafficking of women.

“It has been brought to the DCW’s notice that the State-level coordination panel to combat trafficking and rehabilitate sex workers was constituted as per the Supreme Court order in 2012. But the panel meeting has not been convened even once in the last three years,” the DCW chief said in the letter.
