The cutoff for admissions to the four-year undergraduate science courses in St Stephen’s College of Delhi University has been increased slightly this year.

However, the minimum marks requirement for Economics and English programmes for students with Commerce remains at 98 per cent like previous, which is also the highest for any course in the college. As per the cutoff lists released by the College on Tuesday, the cutoff for admissions into a Science course at the College has increased by 0.33 per cent this year, thus closing at 96.33 per cent for Chemistry Honours (H) and 96.66 for Physics (H).

The cutoff for Economics has increased by 0.5 per cent for Science and Humanities while for English the increase is 0.25 per cent for Science students and 1.25 per cent for Humanities students. The cutoff for both English and Economics this year is 97.25 per cent for Science, 98 for Commerce and 97 for Humanities.

For Mathematics, there is a marginal increase in the cut-off for students of Commerce and Humanities. The cutoffs are 97 for Science, 97.25 for Commerce and 95 for Humanities. The cutoffs for History are almost the same as last year barring a 0.5 per cent increase for students of Humanities. However, Philosophy has seen an increase in cutoffs with a full one per cent increase for Commerce students and 0.5 per cent increase for Science students.

Students who meet the cutoffs will now have to go for the interviews which will begin on Friday and go on till July 6. “The list of students selected under each subject will come out after the interviews for that subject end. The deduction of marks based on the subjects the student counted in the best of four aggregate will be done if the student clears the interview. Only if he/she clears the criteria will his/her name come on the list,” said Karen Gabriel, media coordinator of the college. The total number of applications received by the college was 25,000.
