Judicial custody of those facing trial in IPl spot-fixing, including S Sreesanth, was extended till June 18 on Tuesday as the Delhi Police told court that it has invoked MCOCA provisions against them.
However, this charge was strongly opposed by defense counsel, who said they would knock on the doors of Delhi High court to oppose it. After hearing the argument Additional Session Judge Sanjeev Jain said, "It is stated that illegal organised betting syndicated in India is being controlled by a person based abroad. The rest persons have been found playing the role of conspirators while the others have been found acting as facilitators. Keeping in view these facts that the investigation is in progress, all the accused persons are remanded to judicial custody till June 18.”
