The Delhi Police on Thursday recovered `5.5 lakh from Abhishek Shukla’s residence in Mumbai at lokhandwala, Andheri West. Abhishek Shukla is friend-cum-manager of arrested Rajasthan Royals cricketer S Sreesanth, who has been arrested for spot-fixing scandal.
The Special Cell of Delhi Police have found that Shukla and Sreesanth have been friends for about five to six years. The recovery has completed the money trail of Sreesanth. This money was part of the bribe that Sreesanth had received from bookies for spot-fixing.
It has now emerged that Shukla was handling Sreesanth’s monetary issues when he was shopping in Mumbai. “On May 14, Shukla, Jiju and Sreesanth went shopping, where Sreesanth made purchases of `1.95 lakh. After the purchases were made, Shukla took the money back to his flat in a black bag,” a senior Delhi Police officer said on Thursday.
