Unable to bear the rejection to his marriage proposal, a man first shot a girl and himself in Daulatpura under Sihani Gate Police station of Ghaziabad. The police rushed them to Yashoda Hospital where doctors said their conditions were critical.
Police said Renu (25), a student, and Deepak, a footwear shop owner, were cousins. They liked each other. However, due to social restrictions, Renu refused to marry him. Deepak tried to convince her several times to marry him but in vain.
On Wednesday, Deepak proposed her but Renu refused him again. Angered by her refusal, he whipped out a pistol and shot her and himself. The bullet hit the girl in her stomach and the boy sustained an injury in his neck.
“Both have been admitted to a hospital. The first priority is to save them. The legal actions would be looked after only when they recover from their injuries,” said SSP Dharmdra Singh Yadav.
