Students seeking admission through the Sports category and Extra Curricular Activities (ECA) category in the Delhi University continued to have a difficult time. On the second consecutive day, the students had to run from one college to another to get their forms on time, as different colleges are giving out their forms for these two categories on different dates.
Besides, the colleges are not adhering to the information they display on their website. This has primarily added to the woes of the students applying through the Sports category.
"It's extremely difficult to go to each and every college to get the forms. Most of the colleges have mentioned on their website that they would include Korfball as a sport. But, when I visited them to collect the form, they said that there wouldn't be any trials for Korfball. Ramjas College, which is a hub for sports like Korfball, is not considering it even though it is mentioned on the website," said Avni Duggal, a State level Korfball player from Springdale's School.
To add to that, Anshika Sharma (name changed), who has played Chess at the International level, is not eligible to most top colleges for admission under the Sports category.
"I am a Commonwealth bronze medalist. If I apply abroad, I can easily make it to any college. My certificate is approved by FIDE. Being an International level player, I should ideally get admission directly, but I am facing lots of problems here," she said. Meanwhile, the students of the ECA category too remained in a lot of strain as different colleges had different criteria for admission under the category.
They were also eagerly awaiting the forms of various colleges. The ECA and sports form for Hansraj College will be out on June 10. The ECA form for Miranda house is also likely to come by June10.
