Special PTMs in Govt schools from July 19

Now, special parent-teacher meetings (PTMs) will be held amid the uncertainty in reopening of schools. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said due to the pandemic there is no possibility of reopening schools in the near future, hence PTMs will be held from July 19 this year, in small groups in schools as well as online.

“Although Covid-19 has impacted schooling adversely and we are unsure of when schools will reopen, but learning has not stopped, it has just been taken online. This online learning has increased the role parents play in their child’s life. Keeping this in mind, the Directorate of Education (DoE), Delhi, has decided to conduct special PTMs for parents of all students in Delhi Government Schools. These PTMs will be a space for parents to understand how to provide regular learning support to their children and parents will be required to physically attend these PTMs in schools.”

Sisodia said, “These PTMs will be very important for students transitioning from MCD Feeder Schools to DoE Schools. After having review meetings with MCD officials, we have created a structure for joint PTMs between MCD and DoE teachers.

PTMs for students in 6th grade will be done jointly between MCD teachers and DoE teachers. This decision has been taken to ease the transition of students from MCD to DoE schools in 6th grade and ensure children receive adequate emotional and learning support in newer environments. I request all parents with children transitioning to 6th grade to attend this PTM.”

The special PTMs will be held physically in Delhi Government Schools and they will be conducted in small groups, keeping in mind corona regulations.
